Spotlight on SEI: Society

TGIF! I was on the SEI blog earlier this week to share this layout. Over the holidays, I went to the museum and was inspired by some beautiful pieces. I wanted to create windows into these worlds painted by the artists, so I framed and matted both photos with several layers of contrasting pattern paper.

Materials used: SEI Mirelle Stickers, Mirelle Sundries, Lexington Paper Pad (red pattern), Vanilla Sunshine, Field Notes

Mama Elephant Highlight: Type It

Hello! I've got another highlight on a January Mama Elephant release set, Type It. This stamp set is absolutely perfect. I can't say this enough, but I love how Mama Elephant stamps are perfect for card making or scrapbooking projects. You really do double the use of your stamps and get the most out of each set.

Isn't the typewriter just darling? Love it. There's also a ledger stamp which works perfectly for journaling. And as you saw from my December Daily project, I can't stop using the lovely heart in quotes image. Another reason why I love ME stamps is because you can mix and match the sets to really maximize the use of each image. I used a couple of stamps from Geotagged. One of the sentiments fit perfectly and I couldn't help but add a little tag to the typewriter.

Materials used: Mama Elephant Type It and Geotagged ("wish you were here", tag hanging from typewriter) stamp sets; CTMH Inks, Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black, washi tape, tissue paper, Knot & Bow silver foil medallion doilies

Mama Elephant Highlight: Smitten

Happy Friday! I'm back again with another Mama Elephant stamp highlight from the January release. Today, let's take a look at Smitten. This stamp set is a super sweet and darling set of sentiments. As you probably saw in my December Daily, the sentiments are perfect for scrapbooking or card making.

Materials used: Mama Elephant Smitten ("You're my favorite", "Sweet sweet sunshine", and feather), Trifecta (arrow), and Type It (ledger, heart in quotes, "hey there.") stamp sets; CTMH Inks, Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black

Inspired by old school "wanted" posters tacked onto trees, I created my own poster using sentiments from a couple of Mama Elephant stamp sets for the perfect stacked message -- Hey there. You're my favorite sweet sweet sunshine! For the tack, I used an arrow from Trifecta. To create the pinched staple look, I just cut a short piece of paper to mask the image.

Head on over to the Mama Elephant blog to see what the rest of the design team made with this perfect set of sentiments.

Mama Elephant Highlight: Starry Night

The fun continues today with Mama Elephant's January release! Yesterday was Cosmic Stars and today, it's the companion set, Starry Night. It is perfect for creating your own constellation designs! Can you imagine all the different things you can make with this set? Eep, love!

Materials used: Mama Elephant Starry Night and Believe in Magic stamp sets; Nestabilities Ribbon Banners dies, Nestabilities Labels 20 dies, Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black

Inspired by the chalkboard look, I stamped the big dipper and a cluster of stars with white ink on black cardstock. The cluster of stars is borrowed from Believe in Magic. I then finished the card off with a sentiment from the Starry Night set. I love this set so much because I get to build whatever constellation I wish! The personalization is endless.

Mama Elephant Highlight: Cosmic Stars

Wowee! Have you seen Mama Elephant's January release? Every set is awesome and incredibly versatile. Don't believe me? Well, let me show you this card, I made using Cosmic Stars. Sure, the images in this set are perfect horoscope icons, but if you take a closer look, this set is a real treasure full of animals, friends, and even cupid that more than doubles the use of the set!

Materials used: Mama Elephant Cosmic Stars, Believe in Magic, and On Target stamp sets; Copics markers, Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black

When I saw the Pisces image, all I saw were cute gold fish, happily cohabitating. To create the fishbowl, I used the snow globe image turned upside down from Believe in Magic. Super versatile! I finished the stamping off with a sentiment from On Target.

Don't forget to check out the Mama Elephant blog to see what the rest of the design team made with this super versatile set.

For my January Stampede project, I finished up my December Daily album -- about December Daily here. This is the second year I participated, here's my first. All I needed this year were my Mama Elephant stamps including the latest January release, (which by the way, are darling and perfect for scrapbooking or card making) and the following:
I envisioned capturing December 2012 using neutral tones (ivory, white, nude, kraft, woodgrain, translucent, and light pink) complimented by crisp black and a shiny metallic gold, instead of the usual holiday colors. I also knew I wouldn't have time to actually add to the book on a daily basis, so I threw everything in a box, wrote everything in my Google calendar, printed all my iPhone December photos, and put everything together with the Bind-it-all the first weekend of January -- well after the holiday craziness. Here's how it turned out:

Hello, 2013!

Hello, 2013! Wow, it's been a while, huh? With so much going on in the last few months, it's been hard to keep up with the blog. But rest assure, this first post of the year is the start of me bouncing back from the holiday hiatus.

What better way to start the new year off with a swap story. Back in October, I signed up for this shop swap on the Oh, Hello Friend blog. Lucky me, I was assigned to swap buddy, Sydney of Studio255. Studio255 makes custom address stamps and greeting cards.

I sent Sydney a mint ombre necklace from my Quinfetti Etsy shop, a handmade mini notebook, and a handmade custom initials heart confetti card from my Pearl's Pac Pack Etsy shop. In return, Sydney sent me 2 personalized address stamps and a set of holiday cards. My personalized address stamps came in so handy with the busy December snail mail month.

I loved everything! Thank you, Sydney for all the goodies and thank you, Oh, Hello Friend for setting this up.

Thanks for stopping by and here's to a great year!
