I Love You, Miss Nelly

I'm blogging all the way from Aruba today. Ok, no, I'm not. This is a scheduled post that I have timed perfectly with my dear friends' wedding day. This couple consists of some of the nicest people I know and I wish them everlasting love. And the card I am sharing today is all about love!

I really adore the Kaisercraft Miss Nelly range! I particularly like how it is shabby-chic with lots of pretty floral patterns but it's still so bright and vibrant.

I created this card by using the pattern paper, Her Eyes as the background of the card. I then stamped and hand wrote the sentiment, pleated a strip of the pattern paper, Her Style, and added finishing touches with a pearl brad and tag with a flower rub-on.

Dressing Miss Nelly

Happy Monday!

One of my favorite Kaisercraft recent releases is the Large Mannequin! The dress form is gorgeous, especially paired with the Kaisercraft Miss Nelly collection.



I really wanted to highlight all the different pattern papers in the Miss Nelly collection - I love each pattern! So I cut strips of different pattern papers and adhered them to the back of the dressform. I also painted the dressform in a light spearmint color and embellished with red and white twine, clothespins and tags.

I had so much fun putting this project together!

A Big Hooray & Happy Birthday!

Hooray! It's been tough keeping the official news under wraps the last couple of weeks but I'm glad I can finally share that I made the 2012 SEI design team! I still can't believe it but I am very thankful and thrilled to join the team. Some of my first scrapbooking papers were actually from SEI, so I feel as though I've come full circle. Read all about the 8 design team members here. I am honored to be on the team with the super talented ladies.

Happy Birthday! Recently, I made a simple card for a very special someone's birthday and I thought I'd share it here. I have been meaning to use the Whipper Snapper elephant stamp for a while, but I couldn't get the smooth details coloring with watercolors, so I held off... until my bestie introduced me to Copics. I know Copic markers have been around for a while but I just couldn't justify the investment. Last month, we took a certified designer class for fun and I was immediately hooked. I took the dive and bought a few of my favorite and frequently used colors. Whaddaya think of one of my first coloring projects?

Aloha, Hunt & Gather!

Happy Monday!

As I go through some vacation photos, I find myself craving for my next adventure. I so need a vacation! But until then, this little project will have to hold me over. It is the Kaisercraft 6 frame photo display. I love these frames because they can be used for anything and everything.



This frame will remind me of the gorgeous Hawaiian skies... and bring some sense of serenity during the busy and hurried work week as I pass by it on my book shelf everyday.

I painted the frame in magenta, adhered photos and pattern papers from the Hunt & Gather paper pad and embellished it with diecuts from the back of the pad - love this about the paper pad! Added pearls as a frame, tiny alphabet stickers and painted chipboard letters as the title - Aloha.

Celebrate: Hunt & Gather

I have been spending some long hours at work, so it's been a while since I did a mid week post... but I thought I'd hop on to share a card using the lovely Kaisercraft Hunt & Gather collection.


If you're anything like me (deathly afraid of insects), it may be challenging to incorporate the collection in your projects. But I must admit that I have fallen for this collection for it's outdoorsy, distressed, and rustic look.

I used the gorgeous brown and rustic gold tones of the papers and created a "Celebrate" card. It's a perfect card to pair with a bottle of red wine for a complete congratulatory gift! The photo doesn't quite show the metallic shimmery stripes in the background paper, but I assure you, it mixes well with the shiny pearls and sequins.

Love To Travel

Happy Saturday! There are only a few more weekends of summer and I plan to savor each one... So I'm just hopping on quickly to share Kaisercraft's August Saturday Sketch #2 using the recently released, Hunt & Gather collection.


And here's my interpretation of it, tilted 90 degrees counter-clockwise to better incorporate the technique and layout I had in mind.

• To create the frame around the photo, journaling label and corrugated tag cluster, I used a craft knife to cut around the pattern of the paper.
• I used the wood grain banner sticker that came with the Hunt & Gather sticker sheet – I love it!
• I added some rhinestones and hearts randomly on the pennants to enhance the wood grain pattern.
• To give the leafy vine sticker a slightly more turquoise tone and dewy look, I lightly brushed on spearmint acrylic paint around the edges of the leaves and added some clusters of rhinestones to it.

Miss Nelly: 30 Something

Today I'm sharing a layout using the lovely Kaisercraft Miss Nelly range which is gorgeous. I love all the bright colors and pretty floral patterns. They're perfect for feminine layouts!



I cut the middle of the specialty die-cut cardstock, Her Voice and layered it on top of the pattern paper, Her Dreams. I then layered on the wonderful tags in the back of the Miss Nelly paper pad, the mini journal tags, the layered cardboard flowers, the painted chipboard letters, pearls, rubons, pearl brads and the tiny alpha stickers. One of my favorite parts of the layout is the Martha Stewart studded heart punch where I then added dimension by placing a piece of pattern paper underneath using foam squares.

Kaisercraft August Releases

Wow! Is it really August 1st already? It's time to introduce the gorgeous collections Kaisercraft is releasing this month!

I especially love the Miss Nelly collection because it's right up my alley. The bright reds and turquoise, and gorgeous floral patterns are so yummy! It's great for a shabby-chic and feminine look.


The Hunt & Gather collection is the complete opposite of Miss Nelly. The muted, natural colors and distressed corners are perfect for the rugged, outdoorsy, masculine look!

Two Takes on Blae & Ivy

I really love the pretty Kaisercraft Blae & Ivy collection because it's so versatile.

Take 1: Elegant

The Kaisercraft Blae & Ivy has an elegant style to it in addition to its shappy-chic and romantic feel. It's perfect for an elegant thank you card!


Materials Used: Blae & Ivy Sky (P698), Mystic Cove (P697); BASICS Pearls in Snow; B/W Rub-ons Friends (RB891)

I stamped the image on white cardstock, cut and glue pennants to the cardstock in form of a banner, added pearls to tie the banner together, cut and glue a small strip of Mystic Cove pattern paper to the bottom right of the card and rubbed on the sentiment, "Thank You". I then matted the white cardstock to the Sky pattern paper and finally matted it to the white card base. So simple, yet fun and elegant!

Take 2: Contemporary

As you may have noticed by now, I like punches of bright colors to give my projects a more contemporary look. That's exactly what I did with this frame by adding a striking hot pink color to contrast with the soft elegant Blae & Ivy colors.


Inspired by practically matching baby photos, I used the frame to compare my guy and I as toddlers and how we, at the time, haven't met yet.

Here's a more detailed look at the hearts. To create a clean collage feel, I "camouflaged" hearts in the backgrounds by punching hearts from the same pattern paper as the background, curling them and adhering in form of a banner and background texture.

Little Toot: Great for Road Trips!

Happy Friday! I'm looking forward to the weekend! So it's the perfect time to show how the Kaisercraft Little Toot collection is also perfect for vacations and road trips!

I used a combination of Honk and Bang pattern papers to create this layout featuring a recent road trip, where we took the scenic route around the Hudson Valley area in upstate New York. The different winds and scenes on the road reminded me of the pattern on Honk which perfectly compliment the layout.



I used a craft knife to carefully cut the road and pond out, layering it on top of a dome-trimmed Bang pattern paper, and further layering a rounded-corner photo of the Hudson Valley. To embellish, I layered a smaller photo (shaped by the road) with foam squares to add dimension, punched a border from Bang pattern paper to mimic washi tape, added a hot air balloon Layered Printed Chipboard, wrote on a snip of journaling tag, and added sparkle with Stickles to various graphics on the layout.
